Got To Try New Things

I was thinking today about how I used to refuse to eat certain foods. Not because I didn't like they way they tasted but because I was just not into them for no apparent reason and didn't give them a chance. Corn is one of these foods. You would never see me eat corn. I just didn't like it at all, not the look or smell of canned corn. But one day a year or two ago I got it in my head to try it and love it. In fact yesterday I ate an entire can of corn for lunch. Maybe not a balanced meal but that's what I had. Other foods that I used to hate are ham and onions. I would not eat ham due to the fact that it was pink. Ok that's kinda weird but true. Now I love ham. I am pretty picky about the ham I eat but if I find a good quality honey ham I am all over it! Onions I eat now but only if I cook them myself as I like my onions to be super cooked and caramelized, NEVER RAW. But the point is I do eat them.

One food that I wish I liked but still just can’t eat is fish. I have tried to eat fish, I have looked for less ‘fishy’ varieties of fish but hey lets get real, if its a fish its going to taste like a fish.

So if there is something that you used to hate or have bad memories of eating as a kid don't give up on it yet. Try it again you never know your taste may have changed. Then again you might still hate it but you will never know unless you try.

  • If you hate steamed or boiled brussel sprouts why not try them roasted? They take on a whole different flavor and are so much better!
  • Maybe onions are not your thing, try caramelizing them. They take on a delish sweetness way different from their raw form.

My homework for you this month is to try a new food or retry an old food. You never know you might just like it. What food are you going to try this month?
